About Nicholas
A native of NJ, with a BA in Theater (Acting) and Communications (Digital Filmmaking) Nicholas has defied conventional theatre labels. An acting professor coined the term to describe him best as a trueTheatrical Artist.
An Award-winning Director, Nicholas has directed several One-Acts, short films and a workshop of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. An avid fan of animation, he used stop motion to create his own version of “The Jabberwocky,” inspired by the Poem in Lewis Carrol’s “Through the Looking Glass.”
His bridge of knowledge and experience on both the acting and technical sides gives him an edge in bringing the best out of any show. Ask his Dad who suggested he not direct a show because it wasn’t funny. A show that went on to win Nicholas Best Director at a One Act festival.
As an actor, Nicholas’ strengths comes in the guise of Comedic and Character Roles. Standouts include LeBeau, the saucy Frenchman in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, John in The Red Coat, Nicola in Arms and the Man, and Eugene in Grease.
One of his favorite things to do is make people laugh, even if it means getting a bloody nose from falling face first into a cake on stage. Note that frosting is not effective at stopping the bleeding. The cake, however, is.
What started out as hours building with Legos (let’s say it was only as a child…), as well as the numerous art classes he sought out, led to Nicholas to and interest in building and painting. This led to his finding a job working in the Scene Shop while in college.
Since coming to LA Nicholas has worked as a technician on several shows including God's Favorite (Stage Manager) and Big River (Assistant Stage Manager) at the Actor's Co-op and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Sound Operator) for Interact Theatre.
Nicholas is thrilled to continue working in theatre in LA in any capacity he can, and is grateful for those who offer him the opportunity to do so.
